Setting up Goals in Google Analytics
Login to Google Analytics at www.google.com/analytics or click on the Stats or Reports link in the K1 admin panel.
In the Website Profiles section, to the right of the View Reports link, you should see an Edit link. Click this Edit link. Note: If you don’t see an Edit link it is because you are logged in as a user without administrative permissions. Users without administrator permissions are unable to setup Goals or link to a Google AdWords account.
Next, in the Conversion Goals and Funnel section click the Edit link.
You are now presented with a screen that lets you name your new goal, setup the goal URL and the steps a user would take (funnel) to arrive at the goal URL.
As an example let’s assume we are setting up a Product Sales goal for an eCommerce website (see screenshot below):
The Goal URL field is going to be the page that a user reaches once they have completed the goal (typically this is a order confirmation page or thank you page). Enter the URL in this field. An example URL is www.xyz.com/orderconfirmation.html . You’ll have to browse to that page on your site to find out what it actually is.
Next, choose a name for this goal and type it in the Goal name field. For example, type Product Sales.
Now we can enter in the URL’s for the various steps a user would take in a product purchase process:
Lastly, save your changes and navigate to the reporting section of Google Analytics to see your new goal reports. Here you can see how many people got to each step in the sales process and where they exited the funnel.
